There is a meaningful connection between our emotional state and our body, and understanding how to appropriately identify and navigate what we are feeling is important to our health and well-being.

What’s Your Current Mood?
Let’s focus on improving mood, and decreasing stress and negative thoughts through breathing exercises and mindfulness. The first week will be an introductory session into mindfulness. Denise will discuss the benefits of mindfulness and introduce easy practices to help with elevating mood. This session will end with a 10-minute guided meditation.
Our emotions are an important source of information about what’s going on inside us. They also give us information about what we’re experiencing and help us know how to react. Our emotions help us know what we want, they help us spot problems before they happen, and they give us clues about our physical and emotional well-being. Emotions provide us with a wealth of information!

What Are You Thinking?
We’ll focus on how thoughts influence mood, ways to change negative thoughts, and the origins of negative self-thoughts. Denise will discuss the benefits of gratitude and affirmations. Learn and practice a breathing exercise that can help boost mood and energy. The session will finish with a guided meditation on what influences the thoughts you have about yourself.
The ability to identify and communicate emotions is essential to our psychological well-being. Learning to control your emotions is also important, but it’s not about being positive all the time and avoiding the negative. The healthy approach is about allowing all emotions to happen, accepting them, and effectively managing them.

What’s Influencing Your Mood
We’ll focus on how relationships and responsibilities can influence mood. Denise will discuss mindfulness and the body’s response to stress with tips and strategies to help adjust the way you respond. The session will end with a guided meditation on self-compassion and forgiveness.
Emotions are energy. While they result in a variety of feelings, they can also drive behaviour. It’s easy to see how we can use positive emotions like love and excitement to bring about positive outcomes and although “negative” emotions get a bad rap, they can also give us energy for positive results. We can learn to be productive with all emotions – it simply requires awareness and practice.

Keeping the Balance
Continue to practice mindfulness through breathing exercises and self-awareness practices. An introduction to the chakras and the use of mantras will complete the four-week program. The session will end with a chakra-balancing guided meditation.
